At its September 9, 2026 event, Apple introduced the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max and the big news of the year: iPhone Duo, the first foldable iPhone. Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4 and AirPods 5 were announced too. This year there’s no standard iPhone 18 alongside the Pro models.
iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max
- A20 Pro chip, Apple’s first built on a 2-nanometer process.
- 48MP Main camera with variable aperture, giving control over depth of field and better low-light photos.
- Battery: up to 36 hours of video playback on the Pro and up to 45 hours on the Pro Max, according to Apple; up to 50% charge in about 15 minutes with a cable.
- 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage, in burgundy, glacier, silver and black.
- US prices: from $1,199 (Pro) and $1,299 (Pro Max).
Preorders started on September 12, and the phones reached stores on September 18 in more than 65 countries and regions, with 20 more following on September 25.
iPhone Duo: Apple’s foldable
- 7.6-inch inner display with an anti-glare nano-texture finish and a 5.4-inch outer display; both with ProMotion and Always On.
- Unfolded, it’s the thinnest iPhone ever, according to Apple.
- A20 Pro chip, 48MP Main and Ultra Wide cameras and a front camera under the inner display.
- Titanium frame and IP68 rating.
- iOS 27 brings Split View to it: two apps side by side on screen, a first for iPhone.
Dates: preorders on October 16 and in stores on October 23, in a first wave of more than 70 countries. It starts at $1,999 (256GB) in the US.
Is it worth it?
- Coming from an iPhone 15 Pro or newer: the changes are incremental (camera, battery, chip).
- Coming from an iPhone 13 or older: the jump is big, especially in battery and camera.
- iPhone Duo: it’s the first generation of a new form factor, at a high price. If you can wait, a second generation is usually more refined and cheaper.
